ABOUT

Bobbie King Iliff

Dear Reader, As long as I can remember, I wanted to write and speak about Jesus for God's glory. A neighbor took me to Bible School and I came home with my head full of exciting Bible Stories and gathered any child who would listen to hear me talk about Jesus.

In recent years I graduated college, a lifelong dream, and while there I competed successfully in speaking competitions. I've had the opportunity to pursue my dream of writing with the encouragement of my husband, my greatest cheerleader. I rolled up my sleeves and began to learn about the world of writing. I found that there is a lot to learn and being the overachiever I am, I delved in trying to learn it all at once. It was  a little like digging a tunnel through a mountain with a spoon. God placed a local writing group in my path to mentor me. I made new friends, attended trainings, seminars and conferences. I learned about the craft of writing, the importance of editing, the art of preparing your book for publishing, about publishing options, and found that a writer must market their books. I learned that the world of publishing and speaking are ever changing so I must continue to learn. Along the way I earned accolades that were encouraging. I can now say that I have won a writing contest and been published. It's pretty exciting to live your dream!

I was shy growing up but today I am one of those people who love to hold a microphone and long for an auditorium of thousands. This was God's doing. He has grown me and I am glad. In the process of learning about writing, I was delighted to find great resources for public speaking and developing women's ministries. Public speaking pertains to writers too. A writer may someday speak at book signings, radio shows, or conferences but first she/he will need to know how to speak to editors and publishers. Pitching your book the right way is important and takes practice.

I developed SWIFT to share what I learned along the way. Speakers & Writers In Focused Training, or SWIFT, exists to offer free resources, a store of helpful products, and quality seminars to assist others in the pursuit of their writing and speaking dreams. SWIFT is a process of mentoring, training, sharing, and encouraging planned to assist you along your learning path. I hope you find SWIFT helpful and if you would like to contact me, I would be delighted to walk with you along the road to your dream.  Love in Christ, Bobbie
