Tips for speakers interested in competing
I encourage speakers to try competition and you will never lose because you gain experience. While I was in college I gained experience competing through campus clubs & organizations on local, state and national levels to achieve accolades. Look in your community for other opportunities.
Competitions are often held at local levels to get speakers to the state and national levels, but not always. It depends on the guidelines of the sponsoring group or organization.
Accolades look great as a speaking & writing credential so challenge yourself!

Student Competitions
Students in high school often have the opportunity to compete through campus clubs and organizations. Colleges often offer competition through campus clubs and organizations. If you are a college student or even want to take one class, this may qualify you to join an organization. It's worth checking into.
