Public Speaking

Public speaking is an important skill.

I enjoy public speaking but I once dreaded it. I faced my fear and became an award winning speaker. If I can do it you can too. Whether you like it or not, public speaking is an important skill for writers as well as speakers.

Where can you speak?

Seminars, conferences, women's retreats, business meetings, church groups, PTA meetings, pitching a book to a publisher, book signings,  an award ceremony, competitions, interviews, and those impromptu moments we have to think on our feet! For instance, you would want to be ready to pitch your book if you noticed that a publisher walked into the elevator you're riding in. You would only have a short time to pitch your manuscript. Be prepared.

How to get good at public speaking?

Be brave and practice in front of a mirror, your family and friends.  Take classes. Join speaking organizations. Read good books or even get a speaking coach. Prayerfully go forward in obedience and God will help you!

Types of Speeches

Impromptu speaking is speaking without a prepared speech.

Prepared speeches are written and practiced in advance.

These types of speeches break down into categories such as persuasive, informative and special occasion.

Our resources tab has a list of free sources as well as products, speaker helps, and a speaker organizations list to help.

SWIFT Seminars will be hosting speaking training's and mock book pitches to help you be ready for your big moments. Guaranteed to be fun!!!!
