Publishing

Traditional Publishing

The  world of publishing offers options. Years ago a person submitted a manuscript to a publisher and hoped their work was chosen. This is called traditional publishing. You may need to have an agent, some publishers only work with agents. The publishing house usually takes care of all the editing, production, design and the printing. In the contract, your terms are negotiated, and the author usually receives a certain number of copies. After that, the author purchases copies from the publisher at a discounted rate.

Self Publishing

Self Publishing offers the  author options. There are publishing houses that will walk with you through the publishing process and it is necessary to do your homework and read reviews.  See our helpful listing of publishers in the references section.

Print on Demand

Print on demand is just what it says.  Instead of ordering a certain number of copies to store at your home, you order in advance, and can even have them shipped to your event or book signing. Speak with the publishing house about delivery time factor. Ordering more copies usually brings the cost down.

e-Book

e-Books are usually created with an online service. Do your homework and check each publishers reviews. Graphic designers using e-Book software create e-Books. The next step is uploading it to your own website, amazon.com or other e-Book devices. e-Books can be distributed electronically via emails. e-Books are budget friendly, easy and usually have a quick publishing turnaround.
