Ace the Interview
Being Interviewed
Being interviewed for radio, TV, or print is exciting and you will want to be prepared. How to prepare? Pray about it, know your product/book/presentation, and if possible, talk to the interviewer in advance about the questions you will be asked. Some writers prepare a helpful sheet of questions for the person interviewing them.
If you are an author, it is helpful for the person interviewing you to have received a copy of your book weeks before.
When You're the Interviewer
Be prepared, be prompt, communicate clearly beforehand and at the interview. Dress appropriately for the interview and be courteous.
These are all basic things that a person who has earned the right to interview someone should know. What about the things you don't know? Do your homework on the person you are interviewing and have your questions prepared in advance.
Be flexible and know that the conversation can take turns. If possible, decide on a list of questions with the person being interviewed so your objectives can be met.
Some people can be difficult to interview. Always remain professional and always thank the person for their time.
